Smart Plans - Multi Planner App Reviews

Didnt do it for me

I was tempted by the Gantt chart like views and decent reviews for smart plans. However this app is very limited in features, very clunky and crashes very often. I went back to experimenting with Toodledo, which is a bit lacking in eye candy but delivers a solid platform with all the flexibility you need with organizing your life. I found that Toodledo is just awesome after the initial learning curve. I wanted to like smart plans due to that single Gantt view. But no dice after days of trial. 2 stars for eye candy is generous.

Project Planning Done Right!

I finally found a powerful, but easy to use project planning app. I love this program!

Smart Plans

Ive been using SP for a month and find it helps me keep my juggling of multiple tasks under control while Im on the go. The finger tapping isnt as intuitive as I need to open my projects down to tasks but Im getting used to the quirks and its becoming more friendly. I am also interested in the syncing Btwn the different Smart apps, it sounds like some issues would be resolved with that.

Horrible

I have used multiple project apps, and this is the worst. Only 5 contexts??? You have to use default time frames and hours...it is just completely useless!

Project planning you can understand!!

Finally, a planning app you can use and understand! Left Coast Logic have done it!! Its amazing because you can actually see your progress visually at the home page so you can feel good about how far youve come. Ive tried a zillion different planners - this one is simple and the best! Worth it!

Really bad

Ok the app looked interesting only because of the integration with iCal. The integration simple does not work with iCloud. As for the rest of the features it would have been workable if it didnt crash. I am sooooo disappointed.

I love this app!

I use this app and find it tremendously useful. The fact that it syncs with iCal is great. Milestones is something else I use and appreciate. From the beginning they have continually improved their apps. Whenever I find myself tempted by other apps, I keep returning to this one because it works so well. I must admit I do love the colors.

Useless

The app crashes and crashes and I just cannot do anything with it. I try to create a plan, type the name, press done and it crashes. I clink on the timer, press start and crashes. Totally useless. I dont know if its the last update or what, but I just cannot do anything.

Crashes

Used to work, but now it wont even open. Please fix. For twenty dollars this should work like a charm.

nice app

fits well with other LCL applications. Obviously not a full project management program but does a good job for its intended mobile use

For projects that take hours, not months

Also: crashes. Kind of unforgiveable for a $20 app.

Support

When I encountered a minor problem with the program and asked for technical support, within hours my minor problem was being solved. This program has been an extreme addition into my profession and is making my daily, weekly planning very successful.

Crashes

Used to work but now cant even open. All it is useful for is crashing

Meh

This app could have been good. But it was buggy. It ran so so on iPad 2... But on the new iPad it was extremely crash prone... Especially when dragging out the timeline graph. Then I saw they had an Update available and installed the update. Now it crashes on launch every time. Until this flaw is fixed this app is useless for anyone on a new iPad.(3)

Nope

I had high hopes for this program from the Smart-series guys (SmartPlans and SmartPad- own them both). Great write ups convinced me, but I ditched them both after a month of use. SmartPlans- It works great if you are not sharing your plan with people who use MS Project. I reached out for help for SmartPad since tasks kept cropping up when they were scheduled weeks in advance. No word, so I went back to Toodledo.

Keep Crashing

Please update soon.

Great concept...needs work

I was excited to see left coast was at it again. They appeared to be providing exactly what I needed - the ability to create dependencies between tasks and provide a gantt chart. Well, in a bubble, this app does that. This app does not integrate with smart pad - tasks created are not tracked as tasks in smart pad. Seems like a no-brainer to integrate functionality. Pushing tasks to Toodledo doesnt seem to function correctly (could be user error). In order to sync to iCal, or calendar in the new age, you have to remove all your calendar accounts initially and to import new projects. Smart pad has a calendar, why not integrate with that? Theres no method to operate separate calendars ie home time/projects verses work time/projects. The price of this app is far too high. The idea of contexts in this app is a bit limited. This app should be $4.99 not $20.00. It has extremely limited functionality. I trust that LCL will continue development and make this app all it can be.

Great form but poor function

This could be the best PM app out there if the dev team would really test their own app before releasing updates. If a program like this keeps crashing then why use it? Dev team: please run your tests as you put this and the iPad (crashes even worse than the iPhone version) app through its paces and please fix.

Best in class

I manage 10-15 major projects at a large suburban school district (14k students) and I use SmartPlans everyday to keep the chaos of project management from creeping in. It is the best tool Ive found for juggling large, complex, and multiple projects. I use it for the small stuff, too.

How can I contact the developer for a refund...

This was soooo NOT worth 20 bucks... It just isnt for me... Someone help if u know the process of how I can get a refund .. Thanks
